Here is a book project I recently worked on. I coached Louis on every aspect of developing his stories and authentic voice, and clarifying his message and communication style: ‘In this book, rich in edifying insight and illuminating case examples, Louis Weinstock confronts us with uncomfortable truths—the better to guide towards creating a world that is comfortable for our children and supports their healthy development.’ – GABOR MATÉ This book is a guide for anyone who is concerned about the state of the world and the impact it is having on our children’s minds....{....}...Together, we can guide our children towards a more beautiful tomorrow. Check out the book and Louis' work here. |
big writing needs big holding
“He is so wondrously, irreverently, counterintuitively, playfully genius at helping us all access the creative treasure we're hiding from ourselves and the world for whatever important but no longer intelligent reason we're doing so.” Brooke McNamara, Zen Monk and transformation teacher, author of Bury The Seed and Feed Your Vow
Do you have a big flow of writing wanting to come through? Big writing needs big holding. It takes raw courage and playful inspiration to get through it. And guiding support.
I can help you get writing, keep writing and finish work, all while connecting deeply with your truest voice and truest flow of material.
Glaring at the bitter ceiling, cursing the smug blank page, feeling it’s fucking impossible, eating enough chocolate to make an elephant diabetic and wallowing on Facebook instead; all part of the deal. To do big writing we have to go beyond our comfort zones, fears and ideas of how it wants to come through.
Maybe you’ve felt for years that you have books in you? Started and stopped, because it all felt too much? You’re not alone in this. But the funny truth is, it’s harder and more exhausting to NOT DO IT. Because if you’re a writer, not writing leaves you drained and a little crazy. I’m speaking from personal experience.
Get in touch to find out how we can work together.

"He's the best. End of."
Jamie Catto, author of Insanely Gifted. “Dave is to writing as air is to birds. He provides the perfect space for your truest words to fly. Dave has allowed me to access the deepest layers of truth in my writing and has helped me convey those words in a way that truly serves the deepest need of the reader.” Louis Weinstock, founder of Apart of Me, author of How The World Is Making Our Children Mad "Dave Rock is the embodiment of passion and word artistry! A direct hit to the heart and brain. I hope you have the opportunity to experience him!" Mary Alice Arthur, Founder, the Story Dojo |
Yes, it can be daunting, and will ask us to grow. But letting that flow through will also liberate big joy, big peace, big magic. There are simple, powerful shifts that can get you there. I can help you transform your relationship to writing, creating far deeper trust, inspiration and richness, and helping every line come fully alive.
Letting go control: one of the biggest struggles for most writers is trying to second-guess the alchemical process of creation. Our unconscious minds, our access to inspiration, completely transcend what we can plan and manage. We have to get out of the way to let that happen. Only once we’ve allowed the material to arrive fully and freely, is it time for the editing brain to enter the room.
Letting Everything Speak: Without even realising it, we’ve all built up a tidy, shiny blueprint of what we’re supposed to say and not say. Even those of us big into uninhibited authenticity end up leaving so much of ourselves and so much of life out of our lines. We have to consciously seek for what we’re not seeing and not saying, every step of the way, in order to write big, alive things.
Embracing 'Stuckness': Whatever's in the way is the way. When we get stuck, bewildered, driven crazy by not knowing how to say something, it's an invitation to explore. A gateway to greater depth, complexity and aliveness. Every moment of so called block happens for a reason - to show us what else wants to come through.
Growing our Craft: There are core skills to strong writing. Using the five senses richly throughout. Making our ideas grounded and embodied. Telling stories that live and breathe on the page. Being ruthless in cutting what doesn’t serve. Knowing how readers get lost, and how to keep them with us. These are all muscles that need to be exercised until it becomes second nature.
Growing Purpose: A whole host of shadow intentions spill out onto the page. Wanting to prove our worth, win love, win life, win some argument with the cranky ghosts lurking in the backs of our heads. All that stuff’s fine, normal. But we need to name it, and consciously orient towards true purpose, over and over again, in order to liberate true flow.
I’ll give you lots of love, laughs and crystal-clear truth on the way. Want to know more? Get in touch to find out how we can work together.
